Ginger Rosemary Blood Orange Margarita
Makes enough syrup for 8-10 drinks
Ingredients
Syrup
- 1 (5 inch) piece of ginger thinly sliced
- 4 large sprigs rosemary
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
Drink
- 2 oz blanco tequila
- 1 oz fresh blood orange juice
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz ginger rosemary syrup
- ½ oz triple sec
- Blood orange slices for garnish
- Rosemary sprigs for garnish
- Blood orange salt*
Instructions
- To make the syrup: add ginger, 4 sprigs of rosemary, sugar, and water to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, and reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 3 minutes. Let cool completely, then strain.
- To make the drink: rim your glass with blood orange salt. Add tequila, blood orange juice, lime juice, syrup, and triple sec to a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake until very cold.
- Add fresh ice to your blood orange salt-rimmed glass and pour the drink over. Garnish with blood orange slices and rosemary sprigs.

Fantastic cocktail! Anytime I see a simple syrup for a recipe I tend to skip it because I “don’t want to do all that”—but it’s the simplest thing ever!! Just put a few ingredients in a pot and you’re good. So don’t be like me and overlook recipes like this. It tasted so delicious. I also muddled some jalapeño in my second batch to try it spicy and enjoyed it that way!
